Sweaty Palms: A Confession

Yesterday I flew from Denver to Pensacola on American Airlines.  Now normally I’m an United Airlines gal, but couldn’t justify the $200 extra for the ticket (let’s be honest, the company travel policy wouldn’t allow it either).  So I sucked it up, took the AA flight.  For those of you who think airline loyalty is a bit over the top, allow me to shed some light…

First off, I’ll let you in on a secret,

Part of the fun and challenge of moving to a new area is learning your way around and discovering exciting places that are just down the road.

The Accountant called me ecstatic one evening as he drove home shortly after 9:00!  I was already in my pajamas, but he insisted I put on some shoes and meet him outside… he had found a surprise for me!

We made sure to record this surprise so none of you have to miss out on the excitement of Parker, Colorado!! :)  Aren’t you lucky?

Much Love,
Christine

ps.  whoooooops… at one point, there’s text at the bottom that says something about “title text”… perfectionist, I am not :)

Winter Park lessons learned (from top left counter clockwise):
1. Bring all essentials; Walgreens ain’t close.
2. When the visitor center gal tells you the trail to the peak is not “hike-able” until August, don’t tell her you know since you guys already tried hiking it that morning.
3. Even in the off season, sunsets and coffee on the balcony with the Accountant is pretty great.
4. Say no to scurvy.

Freaky Friday

This particular Friday… odd.

It didn’t start off odd… just a normal Friday.  Get up and immediately tend to His Majesty, King Piper as he has neither learned to use the toilet like the rest of the family nor can he operate the door handles (though be careful what you wish for).

The Pipes and I go for a rather lengthy walk through the glorious Colorado morning.  As we head back to the apartment, a sick feeling comes over me.  We reach the door and, sure enough, locked.  The Accountant had left to tend to his financial duties for the day.

So begins the oddity…

Extreme Makeover- Office Edition

Every day I, just like millions of Americans, wake up early, brew a cup of coffee and commute to work.  Though I am no exception, since our move to Colorado my morning ritual looks a little different.

  1. Get out of bed
  2. Put on slippers
  3. Brew coffee
  4. Walk the dog
  5. Head to the den, cup of coffee in hand

This Colorado thing just got real…

A couple weeks ago our new Colorado license plates arrived.  After several days of procrastination, we came to the realization that Colorado law meant “The Land of Lincoln” needed the boot.

Being the first time either of us had anything other than Honest Abe decorating the ends of our automobiles, we documented the process… exciting, no?

Well folks… been toying with the idea of blogging for a while.  Why, you may ask?

2 reasons:

  1. Things happen.  Sometimes really* funny things… like cock your head to the side and make the curious ”Jim” face… which sharing these funny things leads to #2…
  2. [Some] Friends have asked me to blog about these funny things.  Now let’s not name names… but I love these friends dearly and would do whatever it takes to provide another means of procrastination in their lives.
  3. Dang!  Said 2 reasons… I’ll have to remember to change that.  Sean and I just ventured to the wild wild west*: Parker, Colorado.  And by wild, I mean Parker has only has 3 Starbucks and no Ikea (yet… coming Fall 2011).

Some of you up on your Wallinger gossip may say “But Christine, you’ve been in Colorado for almost a month with no* friends, nothing to do and you’re just now blogging??”.  To which I reply: “haters, don’t judge… I’m not lazy*, rather, writing the first blog entry is a lot of pressure”.  But as my Peoria pal Jaclyn says, get the first one out of the way and you don’t have to worry anymore.  Words to live by.

So here goes.  The inaugural web log entry… a video of our move.  I hope all** of you enjoy!

Music is “One Eyed Cat” by Jenny and Tyler… love love LOVE them.  Check them out and buy their music.

Much Love,
Christine

After you watch it, check out another interweb journal about a special moving experience.
